The Company:
Mayline was first established in 1939
as a manufacturer of drafting tables, blueprint files, and straight edges. Today with over 2500 dealers around the world and over 100 independent sales associates, the Mayline Group has expanded to become the forerunner of office ergonomics, providing quality manufacturing and application-driven solutions for their client’s needs.

Why they chose TTN:  Originally searching for Excel computer training to meet a large employee demand, Mayline soon found TTN to provide a vast cost saving opportunity for all their training needs. Soon with TTN Mayline was able to revise their company’s core competencies and performance evaluations to drive future performance of their employees. With these additions of both technical and soft skill training Mayline was able to begin the transformation of turning itself into a “learning organization” and further their commitment to excellence.

Evaluating ROI:  Since implementing TTN, Mayline has begun to see a variety of changes within their company. There have been positive effects due to the reduced cost of seminar fees, as well as the costs associated with off-site training (paying for mileage, meals, hotels, time away from work, etc.) Many of their employees have also benefited individually; identifying opportunities to explore and develop, both from a personal and professional standpoint. Mayline has even identified new growth with both their internal and external customer relationships.

Learning A Language - by Joel Arnold, TTNLearning

Over half a billion people speak English as their first or second language. That’s a lot. But the same can be said about Hindi and Spanish, while Mandarin Chinese leads the pack with over one billion native and secondary speakers. In fact, there are over 6900 known languages in use today. So what does this have to do with you? Simple; learning a new language can open up a whole new world of opportunity that you and your company may never have thought of. The number of potential markets available increases dramatically. Learning a new language not only increases your value to the company, it also increases the value of the company. Even if you already work with a foreign country whose businesses speak English as an alternate language, speaking to them in their language can open up a new level of comfort and trust. Plus, learning a new language opens up new points of view and cultural awareness. When competition is fierce and opportunities seem less plentiful, why not create an edge by learning a new language and opening up an entirely new window of opportunity? Besides, knowing a second or even third language is something you can take with you no matter where you are or what you do.

Recession-Proof Yourself Your Economy is up to you! - by Dave Ramsey

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" That sounds just like what all the media people are telling us these days. "Recession! Recession!" Calm down, Chicken Little! The sky is NOT falling. Everything will be okay.

By definition, a recession doesn't happen until the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) numbers—how you measure the number of goods made and sold in the USA—goes down for 6 consecutive months. Even though the economy has slowed, it's no reason to completely freak out and think the world is going to collapse. Don't let the talking heads on the nightly news make you emotional and cause you to freak out about the economy. If you let your emotions dictate your actions, you're going to be broke your whole life.

St. Patricks Day
Fun Facts About the celebration on March 17

  • There has been a St. Patrick’s Day parade in Boston, Massachusetts since 1737.

  • One estimate suggests that there are about 10,000 regular three-leaf clovers for every lucky four-leaf clover.

  • St. Patrick was born in 385 AD somewhere along the west coast of Britain, possibly in the Welsh town of Banwen. At age 16, he was captured and sold into slavery to a sheep farmer. He escaped when he was 22 and spent the next 12 years in a monastery. In his 30s he returned to Ireland as a Christian missionary. He died at Saul in 461 AD and is buried at Downpatrick.

  • According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the highest number of leaves found on a clover is 14!

  • Blue rather then green was the color first associated with St. Patrick. Over the years the green color may have gained its prominence through the phrase "the wearing of the green"  in reference to the Irish tradition of wearing a shamrock on one's clothing.
